A seven days’ workshop on classical dance form Kathak has been wrapped up today (12th June) with a group performance at Kathmandu. Workshop was organized by Aesthetic Dance Studio in Anamnagar, it helped to provide advanced learning on Kathak dance form to 8 dance practitioners in Kathmandu. Facilitated by Leena Malakar, renowned Nepali Kathak practitioner in India, the workshop has been started on 5th June 2018.
During the workshop, participants were taught different aspects of Kathak by facilitator Leena Malakar. Malakar is one of the finest performers in the region of Kathak Dance [jaipurgharana] and was born in Kathmandu, Nepal. She has felicitated with India Council for Cultural Relation (I.C.C.R) scholarship to India. Here, she has learnt the essence of Kathak and traditional techniques under the guidance of renowned Guru Smt. Nandini Singh at Sri Ram Bhartiya Kala Kendra – New Delhi, India. She is an Empanelled Artist of ICCR (Indian council for cultural relation)and Ministry of culture Festival of India abroad.
Senior Nepali Kathak dancer Ms. Honey Shrestha together with her husband who is also a cultural critic Mr. Arun Shrestha attended the closing ceremony as special guests. Both the special guests have felicitated the facilitator of workshop with shawl and bouquet. Further, the participants were distributed with certificate by the guests. The ceremony was hosted by Som Nath Khanal and chaired by Namrata KC, founder of Aesthetic Dance Studio.
