“BLIND ROCKS” AT THE “INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 5K FUN RUN”!!
After the remarkable success of the 4th edition of women’s run last year, International Women’s Day 5k Fun Run/Walk held its 5th edition on 16th March, 2019 Saturday from St. Xavier’s School Ground, Jawalakhel. The event saw a participation of more than 1000 women and men from all spheres of life.
Ford Nepal in collaboration with Higher Ground Nepal & Pangro organized the event, the run aimed to bring together the community to celebrate International Women’s Day in hopes of inspiring and empowering women and girls. Although, the race was limited to only women and girls, they made it inclusive for the men and boys as well who came to cheer and volunteer on the day of the run. This year’s theme was #BalanceForBetter.
Sadichha Shrestha, Miss Nepal 2010, and a recipient of Nepal Bidhya Bhusan Padak is the goodwill ambassador for the event. Many celebrities and renowned social personalities from different walks of life also joined the run. An energetic and exciting session of zumba was led by professional Zumba trainers from Elegant Zumba and Nitya Dance & Fitness Studio had followed the run.
Sristi KC, the founder of BLIND ROCKS, International motivational speaker talked about her empowering journey to becoming an inspirational leader for people with and without disabilities. Blind Rocks had showcased a fashion show of the blind (along with her team) for the first time ever in Nepal, wearing the elegant designs of renowned fashion designer Mukta Shrestha, the show was choreographed by Nikita Chandak, Miss Nepal 2017 and fashion ambassador for Blind Rocks.
Nepal Mediciti Hospital was the medical partner of the event, the ambulance was on standby throughout the event, with a paramedic and a team of doctors.

त्रिशुलीको बाढीले पक्की पुल बगाएपछि नुवाकोटका स्थानीयहरू नदी वारपार गर्न तुइनको भर पर्न थालेका छन्।
विदुर–१ इन्द्रायणी चौर र विदुर–९ कोलनी–गुम्बाडाँडा जोड्ने गरी भदौ १५ गते तुइन सञ्चालनमा ल्याइएको हो। अहिले यही तुइनबाट स्थानीयहरू ओहोरदोहोर गर्नुका साथै औषधि, खाद्यान्नलगायत अत्यावश्यक सामग्रीसमेत वारपार गरिरहेका छन्।
देवीघाट बजार क्षेत्रमा पनि तुइन तयार पारिएको छ। बाढीले पुल र सडक सम्पर्क टुटेका क्षेत्रमा तत्काल आवतजावत सहज बनाउन बागमती प्रदेश सरकारले स्थानीय तहसँगको समन्वयमा अन्य स्थानमा समेत तुइन निर्माण अघि बढाउने जनाएको छ।

पृथ्वी राजमार्गअन्तर्गत कृष्णभीरमा गएको पहिरो र नागढुंगानजिकै सडक भासिएपछि राजधानी भित्रिने र बाहिरिने प्रमुख नाका नागढुंगा क्षेत्र सुनसान बनेको छ।
सधैं हजारौं सवारीसाधनको कोलाहल र भीडभाड रहने नागढुंगा चेकपोष्ट क्षेत्र अहिले ठप्प छ । सडक अवरुद्ध भएपछि काठमाडौंबाट बाहिरिने ठूला मालवाहक ट्रक तथा कन्टेनरहरू नाका नजिकै सडक किनारामा लामो लाइन लगाएर रोकिएका छन्।
मुख्य राजमार्गको विकल्पको रूपमा केही सवारीलाई सुरुङमार्ग र वैकल्पिक रुटबाट पठाइए पनि अधिकांश भारी सवारी साधनहरू आवागमन गर्न नपाउँदा ठप्प बनेका हुन्।
यस क्षेत्रमा खटिएका सुरक्षाकर्मीहरूले जोखिम व्यवस्थापन र यातायात नियमनको काम गरिरहेका छन् भने लामो समयदेखि बाटोमा रोकिएका चालक तथा यात्रुहरू थप मारमा परेका छन्।

तमु धीँ यूकेले बेलायतमा आयोजना गरेको यस वर्षको नेपाली मेलाबाट उठेको रकम नेपालका बाढीपीडितलाई सहयोग गर्ने भएको छ।
तमु धीँ यूकेले नेपाली मेलाबाट संकलित रकमसँगै संस्थाको बचत तथा कार्यसमिति र सल्लाहकारहरूको सहयोगबाट जुटेको रकम प्रधानमन्त्री दैवी प्रकोप उद्धार कोषमा जम्मा गर्ने निर्णय गरेको हो।
तमु धीँ यूकेका उपाध्यक्ष तथा नेपाली मेला संयोजक कमल कोने गुरुङका अनुसार नेपालमा हालै आएको विनाशकारी बाढीबाट प्रभावितहरूलाई सहयोग गर्ने उद्देश्यले उक्त रकम कोषमा पठाउन लागिएको हो।
‘हाम्रो संस्कृति, हाम्रो पहिचान, हाम्रो गौरव’ भन्ने नाराका साथ तमु धीँ यूकेले हरेक वर्ष नेपाली मेला आयोजना गर्दै आएको छ। बेलायतमा रहेका नेपालीहरूको उत्साहजनक सहभागिता रहने यस वर्षको मेलामा पनि हजारौँ नेपाली सहभागी भएका थिए।
मेलाबाट संकलित रकमसँगै स्वयंसेवक, कार्यसमिति सदस्य तथा सल्लाहकारहरूबाट प्राप्त हुने आर्थिक सहयोगसमेत बाढीपीडितको राहतका लागि प्रधानमन्त्री दैवी प्रकोप उद्धार कोषमा जम्मा गरिने संयोजक गुरुङले बताए।
