DHAN DIWAS/ RICE DAY
15th Asar is recognized as Dhan Diwas or Rice Day in Nepal. Nepal is basically agrarian country. Nepalese farmer still depends of monsoon to water their fields from generations. Dhan (RICE) is the main staple dish of Nepalese people. Dhan Diwas is celebrated in field by planting paddy, playing in muddy fields by throwing mud to each other.
