GURUNGS CELEBRATE TAMU LHOSAR

Gurungs around the world celebrated the “Tamu Lhosar” festival on Friday. “Tamu Lhosar” which means “Gurung’s New Year” falls on 15th of Nepali month Poush every year.

This important festival of Gurung community is celebrated by visiting their hometowns and relatives and exchanging wishes for the new year and for health. They also visit the Buddhist shrines and gather in a common place. A special programme was organised at Tudikhel like every year to observe the festival. The day usually kicks off with a colourful ralley, followed by stage performances including traditional dances and many more.
