One of the most-awaited film of the year, Thugs Of Hindostan has opened in theatres today. The cast of the film is headlined by Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan, who will be seen sharing the screen space for the first time. Others in the cast include Katrina Kaif and Dangal actress Fatima Sana Shaikh who will be seen playing the role of a dancer named Surraiya and a warrior named Zafira respectively. Thugs of Hindostan has been directed by the Dhoom 3 director, Vijay Krishna Acharya.
The film tells a historical fiction story set in 1795, when the Indian Subcontinent was known as Hindustan or Hindostan, where Indian bandits known as Thugs (from the Hindustani word “thug”) posed as a serious challenge to the expanding British East India Company which ruled over large parts of India. The film follows the band of Thugs led by the commander of sea named Khudabaksh Azaad played by Amitabh Bachchan who poses a grave threat to British East India Company as he aspires to free the country from the British. Alarmed, John Clive (Lloyd Owen), the commander of the East India Company, sends Firangi Mallah (Aamir Khan), a conman from Awadh, to infiltrate and counter the threat.
